Nokia was Planning Android on Lumia series
Back in February of 2011 Microsoft and Nokia entered into a partnership that made Windows Phone “its primary smartphone strategy.” While Nokia reportedly represents over 80% of all the Windows Phone handsets sold, their market share has slowly declined.
Before Microsoft decided to spend a whopping $7.2 billion to purchase Nokia’s Devices & Services, Nokia was considering options – a ‘plan B’ of sorts. According to a report in the New York Times, Nokia was actively testing Android on Lumia devices.
“A team within Nokia had Android up and running on the company’s Lumia handsets well before Microsoft and Nokia began negotiating Microsoft’s $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia’s mobile phone and services business, according to two people briefed on the effort who declined to be identified because the project was confidential. Microsoft executives were aware of the existence of the project, these people said.”
This isn’t entirely surprising. Many people thought that Android would’ve been a smart route for the Finnish company to take. These same people noted that Microsoft executives were certainly aware that Nokia was testing Android on Lumia devices before and during the negotiations. They also made clear that Android was not a part of discussions between the two companies, even though it was “widely recognized” that it was possible Nokia would be using Android on smartphones in the future.
Notably, Nokia had an option to exit its partnership with Microsoft at the end of 2014 and may have used the threat of switching to Android as tool in its dealings with the company.

However, for doodling its not necessary that you would need a stylus, as not all phones supports one. We are talking about the app that can help you to express your opinion in a different way, the app is called ‘Doodly Doo’.
Doodly Doo is an app that allows you to doodle anything that you imagine or to take the artist out of you. You can simply draw anything on the app, there are many brush size options along with a lot of color options. You can also take inputs from the camera, gallery, maps, google images and can also add text, rage faces, smileys and greetings to make your ideas of sketching better.
You can simply use the map option to direct someone where you exactly are, and give your personal message on it. And the greeting option shows up greetings for occasions like Happy birthday, Anniversary and ‘Alot’ more.
The app plays back the doodle on the receiver’s screen exactly the same way it is drawn. Users can also post these doodles to their Facebook, WhatsApp and even send links to watch these doodles to the ones who don’t use this app through SMS.

Save Your smartphones using USB condom
The power receptacle on a smartphone is also a data transfer port, so there’s at least some risk of your bits being snatched while using an unfamiliar USB outlet. This is called juice-jacking, but now there’s a handy prophylactic defense — the USB condom.
The USB condom is a new device
from Int3.cc that blocks a USB port’s data pins while leaving its charge
pins open, denying any potentially harmful requests. The simple board
at its core carries only the current from the outside pins on a USB
connector — which pass along the 5V needed to charge. The middle pins
that would normally transmit data can’t, as there’s no circuitry to do
so on the Condom. You’ll be able to confidently charge in public as long
as you’ve got your USB Condom handy, safe in the knowledge that no
juice jacker is going to mess with your precious device.
The device is not yet available for
purchase, but it will be at some point next week. All we have to go on
is a simple board diagram. It will be a stripped down component — maybe
even a naked board, but it should be complete and functional as
delivered

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Finally Revealed
Samsung's latest is-it-a-phone-or-is-it-a-tablet identity crisis has landed in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Announced over at IFA 2013, the handset comes packing the latest version of Android, Android 4.3 and a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen.
The Note 3 will start launching Sept. 25 globally, with a roll out to 149 countries complete in October.
As expected, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch Samsung wrapped around our collective wrists today can connect to the Note 3, among other Galaxy devices.
While the Note 3 is a boost over previous generations, Sammy made much of the fact that it's slimmer at 8.3mm, light in a 168g form and packed with an enduring 3200mAh battery.
On the rear, the camera flexes 13MP, a respectable number to be sure. However, the Note 3 does come equipped with UHD recording capabilities, able to shoot at 60 fps at 1080p. Depending on the model, users can record 4K video.
Processor-wise, the Note 3 follows the S4 in that it will feature a 2.3GHz quad-core chip in the LTE model and a 1.9GHz octa-core for the 3G model.
The Note 3 features a unique textured, leather-like back, and of course the S-pen is within pinchable reach. According to Samsung, the S-pen is all-new, featuring a fancy bit of tech that makes the pen the key to unlocking and manipulating your Note.
The company introduced a number of controls accessible via the S-pen as well as a suite of Note apps. An applause-inducing feature was the Note's multi-task window.
The device will be available in three colors - jet black, classic white and blush pink. The company's Knox security system comes pre-loaded.

Google's New Android OS 4.4 has been named as "KitKat"
Here's an image From Sundar Pichai's Google+ Account
After the previous minor upgrade retained the “Ice Cream Sandwich” moniker, the next version of Android OS aka Android 4.4 will be called KitKat. Google’s SVP Sundar Pichai has just confirmed by posting the image of the statue across the social networks.
“It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody. :- Google
The company is remaining mum on the project and on what new features
the new name will bring. Google has also already worked out a no money
agreement with Nestle for the name sans a space in the middle, hence,
KitKat vs the original Kit Kat. Google SVP Pichai also announced that
there are now over one billion Android device activations, surpassing
the 900 million mark back in May this year.

John Lagerling, director of Android global partnerships, also confirmed that his team did originally consider “Key Lime Pie” as a potential name for Android after Jelly Bean, but the issue was “very few people actually know the taste of a key lime pie.” The BBC reports that there will be more than 50 million Kit Kats promoting the Android mascot in 19 markets (including Brazil, India, Japan and Russia).

Andriod falls while Iphone and Windows Phone takes European market
The latest smartphone sales data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech reveals that Apple iOS's market share in the big five European markets – including UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain – is up 3.1 per cent year-on-year, compared to Android growth of 2.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, Windows Phone posted its highest ever share, hitting 8.2 per cent
across the five major European markets, and emerging as a key player in the
smartphone race.
The trend was even more pronounced in the UK, where iOS market share increased
by 7.8 per cent year-on-year and Windows Phone increased by 5 per cent,
while Android saw a decline of 3.8 percent – in a quarter when several
flagship Android devices launched including Samsung Galaxy S4.
Kantar said that Windows Phone’s growth comes from convincing first-time
smartphone buyers to choose one of its devices, with 42 per cent of sales
over the past year coming from existing "featurephone" owners.
"This is a much higher proportion than Android and iOS. The Lumia 520 is
hitting a sweet spot, offering the price and quality that new smartphone
buyers are looking for," said Dominic Sunnebo, strategic insight
director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
“Featurephone owners present a huge opportunity, representing more than half
of all mobile users globally and this will be the new battleground over the
next year. With the iPhone 4 and lower end or older Samsung Galaxy models
selling well among first time smartphone owners, there is plenty of
competition for these customers."
Globally, Apple and Android continue to dominate sales. Android is far stronger across the major European markets and China where it accounted for around 70 per cent of smartphone sales during the past quarter, while Apple continues to perform very well in the USA where it has grown its share to 43.4 per cent of sales.
"Apple and Android must focus on a balance between retaining existing customers and attracting featurephone owners to trade up if they want to continue their success over the next year,” said Sunnebo.

Skype Introducing 3D Video Calls
Skype has said that it has developed a method for making 3-D video calls–but is being held back by the tech found in consumer devices.
Microsoft’s corporate vice-president for Skype, Mark Gillett, told the BBC this week that the company had recently achieved the futuristic-sounding scenario in a lab, although it could be many years before the technology is rolled out to businesses.
“We’ve done work in the labs looking at the capability of 3D-screens and 3D-capture,” Gillet said.
“We’ve seen a lot of progress in screens and a lot of people now buy TVs and computer monitors that are capable of delivering a 3D image, but the capture devices are not yet there. As we work with that kind of technology you have to add multiple cameras to your computer, precisely calibrate them and point them at the right angle.
“We have it in the lab, we know how to make it work and we’re looking at the ecosystem of devices and their capability to support it in order to make a decision when we might think about bringing something like that to market.”
That might even be a barrier to ever seeing 3D video over Skype, as technology manufacturers might decide that there is not enough interest in the format.
Gillett also told BBC that Skype will likely offer 1080p ”super-high definition” video call resolution to devices other than the upcoming Xbox One.
